Teacher training
Through our Pathways training, university-led courses, and mentor program, we help educators grow with confidence, strengthen their practice, and build skills that stay with them long after their placement ends.
Pathways teacher training program
Our Pathways Teacher Training Program ensures that all teachers coming to the U.S. arrive classroom-ready, with content designed and delivered by current U.S. teachers to bridge the gap between education systems in the U.S. and teachers’ home countries.
Partner Universities
We partner with global universities to advance professional development and qualifications for teachers.
As part of our efforts to increase the number of teachers who are prepared to support students of all abilities in their classrooms, we collaborate with the following universities on a Master’s of Arts in Special Education curriculum.
We’d love to hear from you if you are interested in pursuing one of these degree programs.
Dr Ligaya Avenida Scholarship
Teacher Lounge supports the ongoing professional development of teachers through a scholarship for teachers interested in pursuing a Master’s in Special Education.
Named after the founder of FCEC, this scholarship aims to honor Dr. Ligaya Avenida’s ongoing commitment to supporting teachers on their lifelong journey as educators.
Applicants to the Master’s in Special Education programs at participating universities will receive information on this scholarship opportunity as part of the application process.
Educator mentor program
As an educator arriving in a new country and teaching in a new education system, we know that you have a million little questions about everything from grocery shopping to school retirement plans.
All new J-1 teachers are paired with a teacher in their 3rd or 4th year of their J-1 program to help support their transition. While the Teacher Lounge Support Team is always there 24/7 for our teachers, having another teacher to talk to who has been there can provide important validation and comfort.
