Teacher Lounge Wins ‘Best Work Experience Provider’ at the 2026 Global Youth Travel Awards in Bilbao

Recognized by the WYSE Travel Confederation for transforming international teacher exchange into an impactful, long-term professional development journey.

Teacher Lounge, a leading international education organization dedicated to preparing and supporting globally mobile educators, was awarded the coveted Best Work Experience Provider title last night at the 15th annual Global Youth Travel Awards (GYTAs). Held during the World Youth Student and Educational (WYSTC) Travel Conference in Bilbao, Spain, the awards recognize organizations delivering innovative work experience programs that benefit both participants and host communities.

Teacher Lounge was honored for its integrated teacher success model, specifically highlighting its flagship initiative, the Pathways Teacher Training Program. Originally developed by Dr. Ligaya Avenida for Filipino educators entering U.S. classrooms, Pathways has expanded into a global, hybrid learning platform serving educators worldwide. By combining self-paced online modules, live instructor-led workshops, peer mentorship, and local arrival support, Teacher Lounge bridges the gap between traditional visa sponsorship and meaningful, long-term professional growth.

Winning Best Work Experience Provider validates our belief that international teacher exchange can and should be far more than just a placement process.” said Jimmy Brazelton, Executive Director at Teacher Lounge. “By equipping educators with deep cultural preparation, practical classroom skills, and continuous support, we are turning it into a transformative educational journey.  This program not only enriches their careers but also helps host schools thrive while helping address the global teacher shortage.”

The award reflects the outstanding outcomes achieved by Teacher Lounge’s inaugural 2026 Pathways cohort of 650 educators:

  • 100% of participants rated the training as “Good” or “Excellent.”
  • 99% gained a stronger understanding of supporting students with disabilities.
  • 99% felt significantly more confident applying their preparation in U.S. classrooms.
  • 98% cited an increased understanding of equity and cultural competency.

Looking forward, Teacher Lounge plans to expand Pathways with specialized curriculum modules, pursue formal academic accreditation, and partner with school districts to measure the long-term impact of pre-arrival preparation on student outcomes and teacher retention.

This distinction also marks a major milestone for Teacher Lounge’s parent organization, Alliance Strategies. Teacher Lounge is proud to be an Alliance Strategies company, and this win marks the fourth consecutive year that a brand within the Alliance Strategies family has taken home the ‘Best Work Experience Provider’ at the Global Youth Travel Awards, an unprecedented achievement reflecting the organization’s sustained leadership and commitment to excellence in cultural exchange and international career development.
